Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
"May the nightmares begin, mwahahaha!"

I just wanted to wish you a safe and very enjoyable night.
It's one of my favorite times of the year! Time to bring out the monster in you and run amok. Put that costume on and scare some kids. Seriously, do it. It's fun. Also, try not to get too much of a sugar high. As much as I'd like to see some enthusiastic Trick-or-Treaters getting pranked, I'd rather you all remain whole. and sane, if possible. (Doubting that comment if you enter a haunted house, haha.)

I'll be happy to know what you did for your Halloween.
Haunted house? Cruel, but hilarious pranks? Horror flicks? Company party....eh?

Reminder: Don't drink and drive! (Or any weird things like it...)

Qualities of Survival: Individuals

Yes, we seen it in the movies, played it in games, read it in books. But are we prepared? Are you prepared? Everyone has their own ideas and theories as how to best survive the ZA. The fact remains that we’re all different in strengths and weaknesses and we’ll have to take that into account during the ZA.

I’m going to split this into 2 parts: Individuals and Society.

There are qualities unique to each individual that breaths. This difference in quality is deeper than the learning to fend for yourself. It’s more than being the “Right Stuff” as stated in an article I read. It is merely a list of factors that improve your chances of surviving. These factors can be used in other parts of real world:

Personality Type

Personality is a significant part of survival. Unfortunately, it lives as a double-edge blade. Having the wrong personality at any given time can lead to your death just as quickly as it can save you.

  • Introverted
  • Extraverted

This will greatly affect your strategy if a zombie outbreak occurs tomorrow. Extraverted people have a tendency to attract people to them. These people will create or join groups and develop friendships and bonds very easily. You see it all the time- at work, school, and home. These people will probably contribute to the revival of humanity and its governments, if a ZA occurs.

hbpro-personality-types1-300x251Introverted people have a high tendency to be alone. These individuals will most likely be lone wolf travellers. They may break down and die. I’m not saying joining a group is guarantee of life and survival. Nope, far from it. I just stated things as is. On some occasions, they may run with groups for however long they deem fit. They will keep a distance from others for many reasons, ranging from responsibility of others to something as simple as avoidance of relationships. They don’t need to be outcast, they want to be. Depending on the group, introverted individual may be ostracized. Even if you are talented a fending for the group. It’s human nature. Talent breeds jealousy, jealousy breeds hate, hate leads to ostracizing. That one of many paths it can go on the negative side. It might not be that way for you. Good for you. Unfortunately, not all people will be as lucky. These individuals will be experienced in defending themselves when stranded alone, due to experience as lone wolf. They will possibly contribute to gathering strays and keeping them alive long enough for revival to begin.

enneagram_alltypesSome people will make choices that affect everyone else. This will affect the group’s survival. Some will have a solely self-preservation mentality even in a group. These people are dangerous and will do what it takes to survive. Nothing short of killing you. People aren’t book. They are harder to read than most anything. Knowing a person’s motives can give you a glimpse into their personality. Helpful if you’ll be picking up strays. Lots of motives, lots of personality, lots of trouble.

Personality will also determine who you will be when your world crash and burns. Will you be strong and help others when you don’t have the answers? Will you be the leader or the follower? Will you boost morale or kill it? People aren’t going to be the what you see once disaster strikes. Your friends/family can easily become your worst enemies, given the right situation.

Lifestyle

This is your fitness and health. Are you working out, exercising, eating right, etc. Or are you a potato couch? Eating chips and watching soap all day. Bah! I can’t say I’m on either of those extremes, but I make do. Watch what you do. If you’re a potato couch and the Zombie Outbreak happens in your neighborhood, chances are you won’t outrun them (even if you wanted to).

Health is what conditions do you have. Are you a strong, normal kid/adult? Yes? No? Maybe? The objective of this part is for you to be aware of your status. Do you have asthma and will collapse at the sight of blood? Are you diabetic and need Insulin shots everyday or you’ll succumb to a diabetic coma? Do you have a mental illness? Physical disability?  Make plans in case what you need is no longer there. Your inhaler is empty and the stores are leveled. Your Insulin ran out and the city’s flooded over your head. Know your limitations. Make plans. BEFORE disaster strike!

Knowledge

This is dealing with your intellect. If you don’t know what is endangering you, then you might not survive against it. Things to ask yourself:

  • What do you know about a given subject?
  • What can you learn?
  • How fast can I learn?
  • How long can it be retained?

August-22-2011-18-10-22-Stivers121202KnowledgeispowerChances are you have heard of something about what your danger. If it’s a zombie outbreak, answer the above questions AND find out about the cause as soon as possible. How does it spread? I know, I know. But just in case it spread another way. What are the signs of infection? How to postpone it, if able? How to dispose of it? That would be how to rid the world of infected corpse after taking them out. Basically, ask relevant questions and seek answers to them.

Instincts/Common Sense

This is luck, intuition, and good old common sense. Yes, luck is a factor. You can do all the right things and your luck can be bloody horrible. For example, you can be the world’s greatest law-abiding do-good driver and get in a life-threatening car crash in a blink of an eye. Others will not be playing by your rules. Don’t expect them to.

Intuition is a fascinating thing to me. You don’t have to be a psychic to have it. You don’t even have to be born with it. You just have it for however long you have it. It’s a tool like luck. Miracle occur because of it. People survive the most incredible situations just because of the “gut” feeling they have. Some people not so living because of it. Some people have said they know the exact moment they’ll die, but rather than prevent their fate they choose to go ahead and execute the process. Basically, they “chose their fate.” That I don’t understand… like, at all.

Common sense is basically everyday intuition. It can be learned. Unfortunately, I doubt some people have it. It is critical thinking by applying knowledge from an experience one lives through to one they have not. A universal example is touching the hot object. When you were a kid, you thought that glowing stove element was pretty. You like the warmth. There was no way it could possibly hurt you. Nope. You know the truth. It BURNS! Now what did you do when you saw the fire? Or that lighter? You learn to test it first, haha.

Elasticity

outsidetheboxIn a phrase: “Thinking outside the box.” There will be times when the normal ways will not work. You try, try, try. But it’s not going your way. Think of something else. If that doesn’t work, think of something better. I wouldn’t put this under the learnable skills area. You have it or you don’t.

Surviving: Everyone thinks they can, but the truth is we’ll never know until it actually happens.

[Spoiler] Resident Evil: Retribution

I saw it a few days ago and I was blown away by the new additions. I missed a few movies after the original. A mutation in the T-virus? A really fugly way to be killed. It’s like Alien’s facehuggers meets the living dead. The way it used it’s quad-tongue to taste-smell for prey was a horrific thing to view. So many different things since the original.  Even Alice had a surprise! I wouldn’t ruin that part for you, so you’ll have to watch it if you want to know. Never mind, you probably saw the trailer already.

Things I wondered about

Yes, I thought about a few ideas about Resident Evil and the paths that could have been taken in certain situations and my general reactions. Here are my thoughts:

The Girl

I don’t think a kid that age would be able to NOT scream when zombie-man does the taste-smell thing. I would shiz my pants if that happened to me! I would probably die from shizzing before I meet Death’s door. Just being realistic.

The Templates

Why didn’t Ada Wong activate Alice clone templates to make an army? I know it’s been done in the previous film. But that would have been handy. Plus more Alice in sexy jumpsuit! I think we could use something like that if a real one ever happens. Also, if Ada Wong didn’t choose to make an Alice Army, then why didn’t Wesker? I know he wanted the original, but think of the benefit. Side note: I’m going to laugh if I ever find out Alice and Wesker were related. It would make sense to me. It’s also just me thinking these scenarios, but I think Alice could have started her own cloning project in Extinction. If I was in that position I would make an army of me, use that base as a safehaven and send out my clones in units for rescuing survivors and bring them back to base to clone them also. Hence, what I would dub Project Genesis.

A Professional Example

Why were these zombie harder to kill than those in previous films? I know, mutation, right? That answer doesn’t work for me. It’s one thing to have a quad-tongue zombie and another that revives consecutively after taking several shots to the head and getting their neck broken each time. This is a perfect scene that summarizes the classic zombie in my previous post.

The Plagis Undead: W…T…F…

It’s enough to shiz oneself trying to kill a horde of zombies that don’t stay dead after repeated gung-ho-ness, but this was overkill. Umbrella Corp. made a batch that were actually intelligent? These were actually thinking like humans!  They were equipped with weapons: RPG, rifles, heck… even a chainsaw! And they could use them. We heard of people that say that they would equip themselves with a chainsaw during a zombie outbreak, but it was different to watch the opposite scenario happen. A chainsaw-wielding zombie!

Yes, I know some of you think Resident Evil isn’t good enough or not a realistic zombie film. All I can say about this is that it’s definitely different from the others of its kind. Not just only bloody gore and a group of people fighting for survival. It has science, romance (Alice and Carlos-ish), mother-daughter bond, and best of all- a story. Think of it as James Bond meets Zombies unlimited. Haha.

Let me know know what you thought about it.

Are Zombies Real?

Many have asked the question. Others have brushed it off thinking it only a horror myth. Either way humanity has not been given a clean-cut answer. My answer to you is yes, but my answer will depend on the situation you present.

Tools in the making?

images-experimentsWhy, you say? Or better yet, how? Look around at our present era. What can we do now that past generation would marvel to think of: cloning organisms, biogenetics research, creating technologies like the iPhones, nanotech, , nuclear generators, drone planes. Technology and research is great, but who will draw the line when the research goes too far? Don’t believe me? Scientists have been mixing human DNA with those of some animals for a while now. the one I know of is the Chinese snake-humanoid. What a wonder some of us believe that zombie can exist!
I’m only glad I can sleep at night because there are other individuals (one of us) trying to keep the scientists in line so something like Frankenstein's monster doesn’t become a reality. It’s only a matter of time before something horrific happens (not like mixing human DNA with a snake isn’t already bad).

The Daily Zombies

looks so familiar....hhmWiping out the zombie myth from our heads this very instant, I would answer yes to the symptoms of zombie-ism in normal human since the beginning of humanity. It’s called conformity. You can find it in schools, social groups, and malls on Black Friday. The Black Friday one is scary to me. Bunch of people running and tripping each other to get discounted items… sadly, some even die in the process. I can just picture it- all they need is fake blood all over their clothes and a taste for human flesh then our debate and questions would be answered in an instant.

Classic Zombies

I know all of you weren’t really looking for the “consumer” zombies in the paragraph above, but that’s a real one alright. Now let’s move to the real reason you been searching for this site/blog.
7_last_man_on_earthWe’ve seen it in movies, games, and on television. The reanimated dead, resurrected by some “possibly unknown” cause. People are running for their lives, all the while not knowing what from. The cities are in havoc. Millions or more dead in a short span of time. The rest are fighting for the next dawn. Hiding, hunting, scavenging, doing whatever to stay alive.
It makes me laugh though to think that people actually believe bodies can move and not break into a pile of decayed pile of flesh and bone without being remotely alive. Yes, I said it. They are alive. They may not be human, but they are alive. Think about it, scientifically. Can any organism known to man move without a brain? Can their bone be held together by flesh that should be tearing at the seems? Is shooting a dead body going to kill a dead body? If the classic version of zombies exist, we are screwed. I may be a pessimist, but I’m a logical pessimist. The human brain begins to decay/liquefy within 5 minutes after death. The cells can be alive for a few more days after death, but not the brain. If there was a virus that can reanimate the dead, blowing their heads off won’t do much other than to slow their progress. The virus will reanimate the body’s cells, not the brain (which would be nonexistent by then). In this reality, humanity is extinct. No debate, no flame wars.

The Realistic Zombie

This is what I believe will be the ones that will hunt us if zombies are plausibly existent. They are alive. They are former human, still living. They breath. They will need to eat, and  to drink. These will have a fully functioning brain. A human brain. How advanced in their knowledge? I don’t know. But they will possibly be in a similar situation a an Alzheimer’s patient. They will not remember who they were. But, unlike Alzheimer’s patients, their memories seeped away until nothing was left except the basic animal we are: the savage. This zombie will require brain-splattering to be stopped.
28 Weeks Later - Poster 32 (2007)This reality will be caused by something realistic: a virus(possibly a derivative of the current Rabies strain), a bioweapon made by an international terrorist group, a man-made experiment gone wrong, a mad scientist damned obsession, or something like Resident Evil, an intentional outbreak.
In this possibility, we can survive. As humans, as a race, as a society. We have enough humans that are gung-ho with guns. A full-fledge army of trained solders all around the world. Our only setback? the unknown. We can prepare for it all we want but we all know preparing and living it are 2 completely different things. Nevertheless, preparing will give us a better chance of survival. The unknown will cost us dearly. If Hurricane Katrina were a measure of our preparedness as a society, we are in a very, very big trouble. The slow response of government aid at the beginning is to be expected. This will be to not believing what they obviously see and act quickly enough to hinder its spread. They will act once its already too late, like during Katrina. We will be on our own.
This reality there is a debate among many what will actually happen when the outbreak occurs. Possibly more than debate…

Update on Blog Construction

I'm getting there. Very slowly, indeed.
I just need to get my topics and areas within. i'm also trying to learn how to make the categories collect into main "headers". Learning this would be very, very handy when i start writing posts. I have already have some post in draft but I will need to get this problem out of my way before I can work on those post thoroughly.
Thank you for your patient as I work on this and I will get back when I do.
Although I was hoping to finish by Halloween, I don't think I'll be finished by then.

Under construction/ Hello post

Welcome!

Hello, welcome to my beta blog site. I'm using this as a test run to my actual website/blog. Feel free to ask, follow, view, or comment at any time concerning my blog and its future contents.

Blog Future Contents

I plan to make this an info blog about zombies and the fun topic of a Zombie Apocalypse, whether or not we agree or disagree of the plausibility of it actually occurring. That will be my main goal, but I may end up do more with this. :)

I may end up doing more absolutely morbid topics more plausible to you as a reader such as:
  • The next World War
  • Nuclear War
  • Epidemics
  • Terrorism
  • Governmental Collapse
So on and on.... morbid topics never cease. That's what makes them so fun to play with. We always think we're safe, but what if it happens tomorrow. Some of us prepare for them, but not all. We'll talk more later because right now I gotta  learn the basic of getting this page up then we'll start shooting up them topics. :)
Hopefully, i can learn this fast. I think you'll know it when you see it. LOL
